Just four hours after writing the review below I’m amending this review to three stars from one because the vendor was very quick in apparently fixing my problem.

I would give this transaction five stars if I had received the more professional presentation of the product that the add promises.. Do NOT buy this. The picture shows you what I received. The validation key wound up being invalid after a couple of days. I’m still stuck with wiping the SSD and doing a clean install when it get here. Glad my new machine is quick. But I’m left feeling pretty slow.

Amazon was fast to issue return and refund authorization. Images in this review. Like many others, I received an activation key that Windows reported as already having been used.

I was able to call Microsoft support to get my system activated, but given the number of users reporting bad keys here I’d be shocked if something shady wasn’t going on. Note that this product is not distributed by Amazon, although the product page does not mention this anywhere I can see it from my order page only. I don’t know how providing duped keys could be a fulfillment issue, but wherever the problem is, Amazon is doing an astoundingly poor job with such a high-profile product. Stay away.

A word of warning I received the advertised product and the key unused and still covered by the scratch and sniff covering. I was able to install windows 10 pro with the key code. When I attempted to authenticate the product via the online method, it stated that my product key had already been used previously. However, I found it hard to believe that my product key had been used given its pristine state it had arrived in at the time of receipt and I proceeded down the customer support rep route to see if I could solve the issue.

As mentioned, I had to scratch the gray covering to reveal the product key similar to the scratch-off lottery tickets. Long story short, I was able to authenticate. But it does require some leg work on your end to fully authenticate. I contacted MS customer support via online chat I believe you can call as well and I was able to verify that my product key was indeed authentic and had never been used prior to my use and that I had to essentially authenticate offline with the customer support rep who walked me through the process.

All in all, it did take another extra mins to authenticate via the MS representative, but it got done and I now have a full windows 10 pro install for a fair price. Right now reccomend you do not buy. Windows would not activate with the code supplied with the disk.

By William T. It installed Home version and would not register provided key. After looking at some of the peoples reviews and seeing their photos, I can definitely see that mine was a counterfeit cd.

No Microsoft holograms anywhere on the CD or packaging. RMA for another CD. I hope my next one is the genuine deal. Updated: 0 for The key will not accept. I did a fresh install on another system to verify it wasn’t this one particular laptop, it is NOT Windows Professional but Windows 10 Home.

CD Key will not work. By Charles Anderson on May 9, I have to worry about this client’s computer I had a client order this along with an Intel NUC. There were no other options. I used a generic ISO from Microsoft and applied the key, which worked, but it is totally unacceptable that Amazon is selling this garbage. I have to worry about this client’s computer going dead a year from now because Microsoft decides the key is invalid.

It is also unacceptable that Microsoft isn’t policing the sale of its products. This is sold by Amazon, not some vendor in a basement store in Brooklyn that buys their disks from China.. I feel like I need to wash my hands. Amazon, you have lost my confidence as a supplier of tech hardware and software. Edit: Just received another one that a client purchased and it wouldn’t activate at all. It was odd from the beginning by not having the scratch off foil.

The key was fully visible and printed on multiple lines on the tag. Does someone have Microsoft’s piracy reporting telephone number. All good on this one. Foil over a key that worked. Maybe Amazon has flushed out the garbage.

Like other reviewers, I was told the Product Key was not valid and had been blocked. They insisted I return it to Amazon after three chat sessions with “support” and one phone call. Hours of time I will never get back. But it will not register Installation was easy and 10 is a fine product.
