According to my son, everything except for the characters is the same as the much cheaper now PowerUP Heroes. He said that the set-up, screen, battles, manuevers and all are exactly like Power-Up Heroes. He really likes Power-Up Heroes, but was looking for this Avengers game to be something different since he already has Power-Up Heroes.
He said that the battles are stationary in one location in both games. He probably would have liked this game more if we didn’t already have Power-Up Heroes from last Christmas because he really liked and played Power-Up Heroes a lot when he first got it. This game is certainly not anymore violent than the movie itself. As a side note, the game is a really good deal at half price which it has recently been priced at on this site.
And the rest of the game is OK, but not great. You can change players when you swap out characters, which means you aren’t playing at the same time. Pretty boring. So, I’d only recommend this for the solo mode.
Its a motion driven fighting game, which sounds neater than it turns out to be. A lot of the moves feel awkward, and there are frequent lags in it recognizing moves. The characters all play awfully similarly, and the story doesn’t make much sense. My 12 year old son got this for his birthday and he loves it! It’s important to me that if we’re spending our hard earned money that we get a top notch product in return. I often rely on the reviews and opinions of others when contemplating purchasing a new product that I haven’t tried before myself.
Because of that, any products that I buy whether on Amazon or from a 3rd party I always make sure to leave a detailed review of the product to help others when selecting items to purchase, as well. My family tests these products fully before forming a solid opinion and writing a review. He is obsessed with Avengers, specifically Captain America. This game has all of the characters and it is not too complicated for even my 3 year old to play.
I notice with many of the Kinect games they have a hard time recognizing my boys because they are so small but for whatever reason this game responds to their movements almost perfectly. My oldest son has gotten quite good. Now, for children that are older than 3 and 4 this might be a bit boring. As a full grown man who enjoys video games I do not find this one terribly boring but it is incredibly redundant.
You have a total of 4 moves that you can do for each character and the fights are essentially all the same. It does not seem like the fights become more challenging as you get progressively further in the game.
Overall its a good game for younger kids but dont expect it to be your kids new favorite game. Good exercise. I gave this as one of the surprise gift to my son on his 9th birthday which he loved it and said it is the best gift.
